Quinn Kelsey Cancels Bayerische Staatsoper Debut

By Francisco Salazar

Quinn Kelsey has canceled his debut at the Bayerische Staatsoper in Donizetti’s “Lucia di Lammermoor.”

The baritone announced via Instagram that due to a minor surgery after suffering an infection in the abdomen, he was forced to cancel his debut. As a result, George Petean will replace Kelsey in the role of Enrico.

Petean will join Pretty Yende, Javier Camarena, and Alexander Vinogradov in the production by Barbara Wysocka. Antonino Fogliani will conduct the performances which are scheduled for June 9 through 15, 2019.

Kelsey is set to return to the stage in August for the Festival Castell de Peralada for “La Traviata.” He will also return to the Lyric Opera of Chicago for “Luisa Miller” and to the Metropolitan Opera for “La Traviata.”
