
Queen Sonja 2025 Competition Announces 12 Semi-Finalists

The semi-finals, which will take place on August 17, will showcase mezzo-soprano Ekaterine Buachidze, Bass-baritone Vladyslav Buialskyi, mezzo-soprano, Maire Therese Carmack, soprano Hannah Edmunds, soprano Hedvig Haugerud, bass Pawel Horodyski, soprano Justyna Khil, baritone Sakhiwe Mkosana, soprano Kathleen O’Mara, tenor Jonghyun Park, mezzo-soprano Meridian Prall, and soprano Eirin Rognerud.
The singers will be judged by a jur that includes Randi Stene (Director of Opera, the Norwegian National Opera & Ballet, Oslo), Tatjana Kandel (Head of Artistic Planning, Danish National Symphony Orchestra), Michael Heaston (Deputy General Manager, the Metropolitan Opera, New York), Christina Scheppelmann (CEO and Artistic Director, La Monnaie/De Munt, Brussels), Alex Taylor (Head of Artistic Planning, the Oslo Philharmonic), Carolin Wielpütz (Director of Artistic Planning, MusikTheater an der Wien), and Jean Denes (Director of Opera, Theater Basel).
The competition will be held between August 15 and 22.
