Queen City Opera to Present ‘The Magic Flute’

Ohio’s Queen City Opera is set to present “The Magic Flute” in an adaptation that pays homage to the world of video games.

The famed Mozart opera has been set to a new English libretto by Josh Shaw and E. Scott Levin that has a duration of two hours and 30 minutes, including a 15-minute intermission. The production, which premiered at Pacific Opera Project, is directed by Josh Shaw and will take the stage of the Jarson-Kaplan Theater at the Aronoff Center for the Performing Arts in Cincinnati, Ohio on August 2 – 4, 2024.

The opera stars M. Andrew Jones, Claudia Neff, Lauren McAllister,  Tess Kilbanoff, E. Scott Levin, Alea Vernon, Corbin DeSpain, Erin Keesy, Jackie Stevens, Erin Alcorn, Junyue Gong, Michael Hyatt, Travis Pearce, K. Michael Young, and Rachael Kobernick.

Isaac Selya will conduct the opera.

Queen City Opera was founded in 2012.
