Purchase Opera Announces December Opera Performances

Purchase Opera is set to present “Dido and Aeneas” on Dec. 7 and 8, 2019.

The performance will be directed by Jacque Trussel in a rendition of the work that will be set in modern corporate American with a focus on mergers and acquisitions. The showcase will be conducted by maestro Hugh Murphy and will cast students and graduates from the Purchase Conservatory of Music in lead roles.

It will also feature students from the Conservatory of Dance with choreography by William Byram. Per a press release, this opera is the first major collaboration between the college’s Conservatories of Dance and Music.

The performance will take place at the Recital Hall of The Performing Arts Center. This production will be made possible with support from The Emily Grant Opera Performance and Production Fund, The L. Werlinich Opera Production Endowment, the Friends of Music, and the Friends of Opera.
