
Jonas Kaufmann, Anna Pirozzi, Sonya Yoncheva, Yusif Eyvazov, Angela Meade, & Aleksandra Kurak Lead Festival Puccini’s 2026 Season
By Francisco SalazarThe Puccini Opera Festival in Torre del Lago, Italy, has announced the titles for the 2026 season.
The season opens with “Turandot,” which will celebrate its 100th anniversary. The first cast will star Anna Pirozzi, Vittorio De Campo, Roberto Alagna, and Aleksandra Kurzak, while the second cast will include Angela Meade, Michele Pertusi, Gregory Kunde, and Ermonela Jaho. The third cast will showcase Olga Maslova, Michele Pertusi, Brian Jagde, and Pretty Yende, while the fourth cast will star Olga Maslova, Vittorio De Campo, and Rosa Feola.
Performance Dates: July 17-August 9, 2026
The season continues with “Tosca,” featuring Eleonora Buratto, Adam Smith, and Ludovic Tezier in the first cast, while Sonya Yoncheva and Vittorio Grigolo will perform in the second cast. The third cast will include Yusif Eyvazov and Luca Salsi, while the fourth cast will star Chiara Isotton, Francesco Meli, and Ariunbaatar Ganbaata.
Performance Dates: July 18-August 21, 2026
“La bohème” will return with Mariangela Sicilia, Olga Peretyatko, Vittorio Grigolo, Adolfo Corrado, Alberto Petricca, Valeria Sepe, Elisa Balbo, Freddie De Tommaso, Luca Micheletti, Juliana Grigoryan, Stefan Pop, and Gianluca Buratto.
Performance Dates: July 25-August 28, 2026
The fourth opera of the season will be the composer’s beloved “Madama Butterfly.” There will be three casts that include Marina Rebeka, Laura Verrecchia, Luciano Ganci, Nicola Alaimo, Saioa Hernández, Piero Pretti, and Ambrogio Maestri
Performance Dates: August 7-Sept. 4, 2026
The season closes with “La fanciulla del West” starring Anna Pirozzi, Claudio Sgura, and Yusif Eyvazov.
Performance Dates: August 29 & Sept. 5, 2026
The festival will present “Turanda” by Antonio Bazzini at the Parco della Musica.
Performance Date: July 9, 2026
The festival will also present Busoni’s take on “Turandot” at the Auditorium Caruso.
Performance Date: July 11, 2026
The season will also include a gala performance led by Jonas Kaufmann and Maria Agresta.

Plácido Domingo and María José Siri perform in a gala with conductor Marcello Rota.
