Puccini Opera Festival Announces 2021 Lineup
By Francisco SalazarThe Puccini Opera Festival at the Torre del Lago, Italy has announced its 2021 season.
The new season entitled “Tanti Baci” will showcase three operas.
“Tosca” will see a new production by Stefana Sandrelli, who debuts at the festival. Vincenzo Costanzo sings the role of Cavaradossi while Franco Vassalo takes on Scarpia. Hiromi Omura returns to the festival in the title role.
There will also be a new production of “Turandot” by Daniele Abbado. The production is a co-production with the Teatro Goldoni di Livorno and stars Ivan Magrì as Calaf and Catherine Naglestad in the title role of Turandot.
Finally, the festival will showcase a revival of “La Bohème” starring Ivan Avon Rivas as Rodolfo, Polina Pastirchak as Mimì, and Maria Chabounia as Musetta.
The operas will be conducted by such renowned conductors as Alberto Veronesi, John Axelrod, and Enrico Calesso.
On August 5 Roberto Abbado will return to the Festival stage for a symphonic concert and the festival will conclude with the Puccini Promenade. Gianna Fratta and Marco Angius will lead other events and concerts.
