Public Funeral Announced for Jodie Devos

A public funeral has been announced for Jodie Devos.

Opera Magazine is reporting that the Belgian soprano’s service will be held on June 22 at Namur’s Cathédrale Saint-Aubain at 10 a.m. local time.

The news comes after the Belgian soprano died on June 16 at the age of 35 from cancer.

Devos’ death resonated throughout the opera world with many companies like the Paris Opera, La Monnaie, Gran Teatre del Liceu, Théâtre des Champs Élysées, Philharmonie de Paris, Opera Comique, and Cincinnati Symphony Orchestra paying tribute. Many artists such as Barbara Hannigan, Ludovic Tezier, Eve-Maud Hubeaux, Anna Bonitatibus, Lisette Oropesa, Ailyn Perez, Gautier and Renaud Capucon, Erin Morley, and Sara Blanch also paid tribute to the soprano.

Throughout her acclaimed career, Devos performed at the Théâtre des Champs Élysées, Montpellier Opera, Innsbruck Festival, Paris Opera, and Opera de Liege. She also made several recordings with Outhere Music including “Offenbach Colorature” and “And Love Said.”
