PROTOTYPE Adds Digital Offerings to 2024 Season

By Francisco Salazar

PROTOTYPE: Opera | Theatre | Now has announced the addition of three new digital offerings to the 2024 festival lineup.

The festival will showcase three new digital streaming options including composer Shodekeh Talifero’s “Vodalities: Paradigms of Consciousness for the Human Voice,” a three movement piece, created to show the different modalities of the vocal arts.

Catapult Opera’s commissioned digital work, “Swann,” by composer Tamar-Kali, will also be shown. The piece pays homage to William Dorsey Swann, the self-dubbed “queen of drag” and defender of LGBTQ community’s right to gather, following an intimate evening at the Swann abode ahead of his conviction in 1896 for “keeping a disorderly house.”

The final digital piece “Whiteness,” composed by Paul Pinto with design by Kameron Neal, is the expanded version of what was originally featured in Modulation as part of PROTOTYPE 2021.

All digital pieces will be available to stream online through the duration of the PROTOTYPE Festival, from Jan. 10-21, 2024.
