Prima Classic Announces New ‘La Traviata’ With Marina Rebeka

Prima Classic has announced a new recording of Verdi’s “La Traviata.”

The company announced that on Nov. 1, 2019, it will release its first complete opera recording. “La Traviata” will star Marina Rebeka, Charles Castronovo, and George Petean and will be conducted by Michael Balke. They will be joined by the Latvian Festival Orchestra and State Choir Latvia.

The new recording is the third in the catalogue for the start up company. Previously, Prima Classic released Marina Rebeka’s “Spirito” album which OperaWire called, “Dramatically & Musically Insightful.”

The company then released Levy Sekgapane’s debut album, which was dedicated to Rossini.

The new recording will mark Rebeka’s second “La Traviata” released. Naxos previously released a concert performance. Charles Castronovo also has a DVD recording of “La Traviata” from the Aix-en-Provence alongside Natalie Dessay.
