Prima Classic Announces ‘Il Pirata’ with Marina Rebeka & Javier Camarena

Prima Classic has announced a new recording of Bellini’s “Il Pirata.”

The new recording will star Javier Camarena as Gualtiero, Marina Rebeka as Imogene, and Franco Vassallo as Ernesto. Fabrizio Carminati conducts L’Orchestra e Coro del Teatro Massimo Bellini di Catania with Antonio Di Matteo, Sonia Fortunato, and Gustavo De Gennaro rounding out the cast.

Camarena has performed the work at the Teatro Real to great acclaim and is set to reprise his interpretation at the Metropolitan Opera while Rebeka will sing the opera in a concert performance in Dortmund in 2021.

The new recording marks the second complete opera for the new recording label. The company recently recorded “La Traviata” with Rebeka, Charles Castronovo, and George Peaten.

“Il Pirata” is set to be released in the spring of 2021.
