Pretty Yende Withdraws from Two Productions Due to Father’s Passing

By Francisco Salazar

Pretty Yende has withdrawn from upcoming performances due to the passing of her father.

The soprano took to social media and said, “With the greatest sadness I am withdrawing from my two precious engagements in Wiener Staatsoper (Don Pasquale) and Opera de Monte Carlo (Il Trovatore) this morning, due to my beloved father’s passing right a few hours after our last Verdi’s Requiem in Naples. It was for him.  I thank each and everyone for all the messages of support and understanding.”

As a result Nina Minsyan will replace the soprano in the role of Norina in “Don Pasquale” in Vienna on March 6, 11, and 13. Monte Carlo has not announced a replacement for Yende.
