Pretty Yende & Olga Peretyatko Lead Top 6 International Weekend (9/13-15)

This weekend will see a number of great stars performing some of their signature roles. Other audiences will get the opportunity to see some rare works take the stage.

Les Contes D’Hoffmann -Wiener Staatsoper, Austria

Olga Peretyatko takes on the four heroines in  Offenbach’s work. She is joined by Dmitry Korchak in a revelatory performance, Gaelle Arquez, and Luca Pisaroni.

The production by Andrei Serban is conducted by Frederic Chaslin. For those not in Vienna, the production will be livestreamed on the Wiener Staatsoper’s streaming service.

Dido and Aeneas – Teatro Colón, Colombia

Monica Danilov sings the title role in Purcell’s masterwork. She is joined by Valeria Bibliowicz, Luis Mora, Emilio Angola, Andrés Silva, Meliza Metzger, Mónica López, and Claudia Grenier in a production of Pedro Salazar. Rondy Torres conducts.

La Traviata – Opéra National de Paris, France

Pretty Yende continues singing her first Violetta in Paris’ new production of Verdi’s masterwork as directed by Simon Stone. She is joined by Benjamin Bernheim and Ludovic Tézier. The production will be conducted by Michele Mariotti.

Juliette – Oper Frankfurt, Germany

Martinů’s rarely performed opera returns to the Frankfurt stage with Juanita Lascarro in the title role as well as Aaron Blake, Jonathan Abernethy, Iain MacNeil, and Alexander Kiechle. The production by Florentine Klepper is set to be conducted by Alexander Prior.

Un Ballo in Maschera – Deutsche Oper Berlin, Germany

Piotr Beczala sings the lead role in Verdi’s middle-period masterpiece, one of the tenor’s signature roles. He is joined by Irina Churilova as Amelia, Thomas Lehman as Anckarström, Meechot Marrero as Oscar, and Judit Kutasi as Ulrica. Ivan Repusic conducts the production.

Pagliacci/noi due quattro… – Teatro del Maggio Musicale Fiorentino, Italy

The Florence season opens Leoncavallo’s masterpiece and an intriguing world premiere by Riccardo Panfili. “Pagliacci” stars Valeria Sepe, Angelo Villari, Devid Cecconi, Matteo Mezzaro, and Leon Kim, while Panfili’s work will star Paolo Antognetti and Federica Giansanti.
