Pretty Yende, Juan Diego Florez & Violeta Urmana Lead Teatro Massimo di Palermo’s Summer Season

The Teatro Massimo has announced its Summer Program at the Teatro di Verdura which will take place between July 4 and August 10, 2021.

The open-air festival will open on July 4 with Omer Meir Wellber conducting Rachmaninoff’s Piano Concerto No. 2 with soloist Daniel Ciobanu. Prokofiev’s Cantata Aleksandr Nevsky will be performed by Natalia Gavrilan with the Coro del Teatro diretto da Ciro Visco.

Performance Date: July 4, 2021

Verdi’s La Traviata will showcase Pretty Yende in her Palermo debut alongside Simone Piazzola and David Astorga. Michele Spotti conducts the performance.

Performance Dates: July 9 & 11, 2021

Juan Diego Florez will present a gala with the Orchestra del Teatro Massimo and conductor Jader Bignamini.

Performance Date: July 17, 2021

Daniel Oren will conduct Verdi’s “Il Trovatore” with Angela Meade as Leonora, Carlo Ventre as Manrico, Violeta Urmana as Azucena, and Artur Rucinski as the Conte di Luna.

Performance Dates: July 18 & 20, 2021

The season will also feature ballet, children’s concerts and family concerts.
