Pretty Yende, Juan Diego Flórez, Anita Rachvelishvili, & Piotr Beczala Lead Wiener Staatsoper Streaming Slate

The Wiener Staatsoper has announced a new week of streaming featuring recent live performances and classic productions. Here is a look.

The week begins with a recent stream of “Carmen” with Andrés Orozco-Estrada conducting Calixto Bieito’s production. The opera stars Anita Rachvelishvili, Piotr Beczała, Erwin Schrott, and Vera-Lotte Boecker.

Streaming Date: March 1, 2021

Verdi’s “Otello” stars Roberto Alagna, Aleksandra Kurzak, Dalibor Jenis, and Antonio Poli. The production by Christine Mielitzis conducted by Graeme Jenkins.

Streaming Date: March 2, 2021

Johan Botha, Soile Isokoski, Sophie Koch, Daniela Fally, and Jochen Schmeckenbecher star in a 2014 production of R. Strauss’ “Ariadne auf Naxos.” Christian Thielemann conducts Sven-Eric Bechtolf’s production.

Streaming Date: March 3, 2021

Massenet’s “Manon” gets a stream from a 2019 performance conducted by Frédéric Chaslin. The production by Andrei Serban stars Nino Machaidze, Juan Diego Flórez, and Adrian Eröd

Streaming Date: March 4, 2021

Tomáš Netopil conducts Janáček’s “Katja Kabanova” starring Angela Denoke, Misha Didyk, Jane Henschel, and Dan Paul Dumitrscu.

Streaming Date: March 5, 2021

Marco Armiliato conducts Nicolas Joel production of Verdi’s “Aida” with a cast that includes Elena Guseva, Gregory Kunde, Ekaterina Gubanova, and Simone Piazzola.

Streaming Date: March 6, 2021

Pretty Yende and Juan Diego Flórez lead Simon Stone’s new production of Verdi’s “La Traviata.” The live performance will also star Igor Golovatenko and Margaret Plummer and will be conducted by Giacomo Sagripanti.

Streaming Date: March 7, 2021

The week ends with Minkus’s “Don Quixote.” The ballet stars Maria Yakovleva, Denys Cherevychko, Ketevan Papava, Roman Lazik, Olga Esina, and the Corps des ballet des Wiener Staatsballetts.
