Presidential Symphony Orchestra of Turkey Cancels Brazilian Bruno de Sá’s Concert
By Francisco SalazarThe Presidential Symphony Orchestra of Turkey has cancelled a scheduled performance with Brazilian male soprano Bruno de Sá.
The male soprano took to social media and said, “Sadly, the Gala Concert in Ankara has been cancelled. Thank you so much for your understanding. But if you are a singer, I will be giving a masterclass on Thursday 19. Stay tune, I’ll share all the details very soon!”
The orchestra did not give an explanation but there has been some speculation that the decision was over the country’s tightening restrictions on LGBTQ+ visibility in public cultural life.
De Sá is a recognized singer who has performed at the Theater Basel, Opéra de Montpellier, and Whitsun Festival in Salzburg. He is an exclusive artist of Erato / Warner Classics.
