The Prague National Theatre will present “Manon Lescaut.”
The opera will open on March 27 with subsequent shows throughout April. There will also be performances in May, June, and October, and a final one on Nov. 6, 2025.
Sláva Daubnerová directs and Simone Di Felice conducts.
Taking on the title role will be Petra Alvarez and Šimková Ghiulnara Raileanu. As Des Grieux, audiences will see Peter Berger and Milen Bozhkov. Lescaut will be interpreted by Lukáš Bařák and Csaba Kotlár. Other cast members include Jiří Sulženko, František Zahradníček, Martin Šrejma, Daniel Matoušek, Ivo Hrachovec, Roman Vocel, Josef Moravec, Vít Šantora, Michaela Zajmi, and Kateřina Jalovcová.
“The National Theatre has returned repeatedly to the story of Manon Lescaut through dance, opera, and dramatic theatre. Different renditions yield different interpretations. However, all of our creators are always inspired by this poetic subject matter, which hides our deepest passions and fears inside a bourgeois story,” said Jan Burian, Director General of the National Theatre, per an official press release.
