By Nicole Kuchta

Portland Opera will host a special community recital featuring tenor Thomas Cilluffo alongside Chorus Master and Assistant Conductor Nicholas Fox on the piano.

Cilluffo is a second-year resident artist with the company. He made his Portland Opera mainstage debut as a soloist in the 2018 Big Night Concert, and performed the role of Borsa in “Rigoletto.” He has also appeared as Romeo in “Romeo et Juliette” at the University of Michigan, as Adolfo Pirelli in “Sweeney Todd,” and as a featured soloist in “If I Loved You” with Pittsburgh Festival Opera.

Upcoming performances with the company include the roles of Count Belfiore in Mozart’s “La Finta Giardiniera” and the Officer in Rossini’s “The Barber of Seville,” as well as a soloist spot in the 2019 Big Night concert.

Portland Opera’s Resident Artist Series “features intimate and direct performances – focused on the singer, the pianist, and art song,” according to the press release.

The recital will take place on Apr. 9, 2019 at the Whitsell Auditorium of the Portland Art Museum. Admission is free, but reservations are recommended.
