Portland Opera Presents Four One-Act Operas
By Dejan VukosavljevicPortland Opera continues the 2019/2020 season with the premiere of a new production entitled An American Quartett: Four One-Act Operas. The evening will feature works by four American composers: Gian Carlo Menotti, Samuel Barber, Douglas Moore and Lee Hoiby.
Four One-Act operas that will be presented are “The Telephone” by Gian Carlo Menotti, “A Hand of Bridge” by Samuel Barber, “Gallantry” by Douglas Moore and “Bon Appétit!” by Lee Hoiby.
Portland Opera’s assistant conductor and chorus master Nicholas Fox will conduct the production by Allison Narver. Narver will thus make her Portland Opera debut.
The evening will feature mezzo-soprano Angela Niederloh, soprano Emilie Faiella, mezzo-soprano Camille Sherman, tenor Ricardo Garcia and baritone Geoffrey Schellenberg.
Portland Opera’s Costume Director Christine A. Richardson designs the costumes for this new production. Set design is by Peter Ksander and lighting design by Carl Faber. Sequoia will be featured on piano.
