Portland Opera Cancels Performances of ‘Frida’ Due to Weather Concerns

Portland Opera has announced that it will be canceling performances of “Frida” on June 26 and 27.

The company stated that the cancellation would be necessary due to “extreme heat warnings.” Per a press release, patrons with tickets to the performances would have an option to attend an added performance scheduled for Friday, June 25.

The opera, which was directed by Andreas Mitisek and conducted by Andrés Cladera, opened on June 22; there was a subsequent performance on June 24.

The opera starred Catalina Cuervo in the title role with Bernardo Bermudez as Diego Rivera. Other cast members include Aline Bahamondez, Joseph Michael Muir, Adrian Rosales-Casillas, and Rachel Hauge.

“Frida” was composed by Robert Xavier Rodríguez with a libretto by Migdalia Cruz.
