Portland Opera has announced the five artists who will be a part of the organization’s Resident Artist Program in 2020-21.

The artists include soprano Lynnesha Crump, mezzo-soprano Jasmine Johnson, tenor David Morgans Sanchez, baritone Michael Parham, and bass Edwin Jhamal Davis.

The artists will work with numerous faculty members on voice lessons, musical coaching, language classes, drama and role study, and movement instruction.

“We are so excited to welcome these five fantastic singers to Portland Opera and to Portland,” says General Director Sue Dixon in a press statement. “Although this season is anything but ordinary, we remain deeply committed to this program, and to the advancement of the artistry and careers of all of Portland Opera’s resident artists. We are thrilled to support and share their work with our audiences and community.”

The company added that it would be implementing permanent testing and social distancing protocols for all participants in the resident artist program. The company has also engaged a team of medical advisors to work with staff members to implement these protocols.

Moreover, the program’s recital series is also likely to shift to an online streaming platform.
