Portland Opera Announces 2019-20 Resident Artists & Respective Casting

The Portland Opera has announced that its 2019-20 Resident Artists will include soprano Emilie Faiella, mezzo-soprano Camille Sherman, tenor Ricardo Garcia, and baritone Geoffrey Schellenberg.

“We are so proud to welcome the 2019/20 Portland Opera Resident Artists,” stated Sue Dixon, interim general director, in a press release. “Now in its 15th year, this program has become a key part of Portland Opera’s legacy in the community. We are thrilled to share the artistry of these amazing singers throughout this next year.”

These artists will be featured in some of the company’s productions throughout the season. Faiella will make her company debut with “An American Quartet: Four One-Act Operas. She wiil sing roles in “The Telephone,” “A Hand of Bridge,” and “Gallantry.” Sherman made her company debut last season as Flora in “La Traviata.” She will appear in “Madama Butterfly,” “Bajazet,” as well as “Gallantry” and “A Hand of Bridge.”

Garcia will be making his company debut with roles in “A Hand of Bridge” and “Gallantry.” He will also appear in “Pagliacci.” Schellenberg, who debuted with the company last season in “La Traviata,” will sing roles in “The Telephone,” “A Hand of Bridge,” “Gallantry,” and “Three Decembers.

All of the artists, with the exception of Sherman, are set to appear in the company’s 2020 Big Night Concert.
