Polish National Opera To Celebrate Stanisław Moniuszko’s 201 Birthday

The Polish National Opera will celebrate Stanisław Moniuszko’s 201st birthday by streaming two live concerts and showcasing a number of recent performances of the composer’s works.

The celebration which will begin on May 1 and conclude on the composer’s birthday on May 5 will include streams of the composer’s “Halka” and “The Haunted Manor” on the company’s website.

Then on May 5 at 18.00 European time Olga Pasiecznik and accompaniment of Ewa Pobłocka will perform Moniuszko’s songs. The recital will be held in an empty Redutowe Rooms of the Grand Theater – National Opera.

Then at 20.00 European time a concert from the church of St. Jana in Gdańsk will be showcased featuring the composer’s  consisting of sacred songs. The performance will include students, graduates and educators of the Music Academy in Gdańsk.
