Pocket Opera Announces ‘Handel with Care’ Mini-Concert

By Chris Ruel

San Francisco’s Pocket Opera has announced the second of its three virtual mini-concerts comprising the company’s aptly named PocketWatches series.

“Handel with Care” features soprano Marcelle Dronkers and pianist Jefferson Packer performing arias from Handel’s “Agrippina,” “Alcina,” and “Rinaldo.” The concert will stream on Sunday, April 18, 2021, at 3:00 P.M. PDT, on Pocket Opera’s Facebook and YouTube channels.

The third concert of the series, “Songs of the Night” is scheduled to stream on June 20, 2021–the summer solstice and shortest night of the year. Soprano Lindsay Roush, tenor Alex Taite, and pianist David Drummond will perform a selection of arias and songs. The start time is 3:00 P.M. PDT.

Pocket Opera is currently at work creating an animated version of Mozart/Schikaneder’s “The Magic Flute” set in Africa. More details regarding this project will be forthcoming.
