Pocket Opera Announces 3 Concerts, Virtual Gala

Pocket Opera has announced the transmission of Pocket Watch, a three-song concert miniseries, as well as its Virtual Gala 2021, “Offenbachanalia,” commemorating the 44th year of its founding by its Artistic Director Emeritus, Donald Pippin.

All performances will be streamed on the company’s official YouTube Channel and Facebook.

The first concert, entitled “Songs of Concealment,” will be opened by baritone Phillip Harris and pianist Tammy L Hall, performing songs by Jackeline Hairston. This is the first time that the company presents songs by an African American composer and female composer.

Streaming Date: Feb. 28, 2021 at 3 p.m. PDT

“Handel with Care” will feature soprano Marcelle Dronkers in conversation with Artistic Director Nicolas A. Garcia.

Streaming Date: April 18, 2021 at 3 p.m. PDT

“Songs of the Night” will feature soprano Lindsay Roush and tenor Alex Taite, who will perform various Arias and songs.

Streaming Date: June 20, 2021 at 3:00 p.m. p.m. PDT

The company will present “Offenbachalia’ to celebrate Donald Pippin’s 95th birthday. The showcase will feature tenors Robert Vann, Joseph Meyers, and Michael Mendelsohn.
