Plovdiv Opera Conducting Competition Announces Winner

The Plovdiv Opera Conducting Competition has announced that Korea’s Deun Lee has taken home first prize.

In addition to the victory, Lee has been appointed as the company’s Assistant Conductor; that appointment is part of the prize.

Lee has conducted with such organizations as OperUS, Associazione Musicisti Coreani in Italia, the Athens Philharmonia Orchestra, Bell’Opera Festival in Milan, and Seoul Arts Center, among others. He is set to lead a production of “Il Trovatore” at the Morelino Classical Festival in Grosetto, Italy this coming January.

The competition took place between Sept. 25-30, 2023.
