Play Krakow Streams ‘Polnische Hochzeit’

Play Krakow is now streaming Joseph Beer’s “Polnische Hochzeit.”

The opera, which was performed at the ICE Krakow Convention Center on Nov. 29, 2020, was written by Fritz Löhner-Beda and Alfred Grünwald, and tells the story of Polish freedom fighter Count Boleslav as he crosses the Polish border after years of exile to see his childhood sweetheart.

The performance starred Edyta Piasecka as Jadja, Jacek Ozimkowski as Count Stashek, Anna Bernack as Suza, Pavlo Tolstoy as Count Boleslav, Wojciech Gierlach as Oginsky, and Tomasz Rak as Casimir.

Łukasz Borowicz conducted the Beethoven Academy Orchestra.

The performance of the work was made possible in part by the Ministry of Culture and National Heritage, and the Fund for the Promotion of Culture.

The opera will be available to stream until Dec. 31, 2020.
