Plácido Domingo withdrew from a performance of Verdi’s “La Traviata” at the Bolshoi Theatre on Nov. 25. The reason for the last minute cancellation was Domingo’s indisposition.
As a result, Polish baritone Stanislav Kuflyuk took over the role of Giorgio Germont. Kuflyuk joined a cast that included Arturo Chacón-Cruz as Alfredo Germont, and Nadezhda Pavlova in the role of Violetta Valéry. The cast was rounded out by Maria Patrusheva, Anna Bauman, Bekhzod Davronov, Alexei Smirnov, Vladimir Komovich, Denis Makarov, and Alexander Chernov. Tugan Sokhiev conducts a production by Francesca Zambello.
Domingo was recently replaced midway through a final performance of “Nabucco” at the Wiener Staatsoper due to a sore throat.
The run of “La Traviata” at the Bolshoi Theatre is set to end on Nov. 28, 2021. Domingo is still slated to sing the final performance.
