Pittsburgh Opera to Present ‘The Last American Hammer’

The Pittsburgh Opera is set to debut “The Last American Hammer” on Feb. 22, 2020 with additional performances set for Feb. 25, 28, and March 1.

The work, which features music by Peter Hilliard and a libretto by Matt Boresi, tells the story of one-man militia Milcom Negley, who rages against the tyranny of federal overreach. The work was commissioned by Urban Arias and will be presented at the Pittsburgh Opera headquarters.

The opera will star Caitlin Gotimer as Tink Enraught, Timothy Mix as Milcolm Negley, and Antonia Botti-Lodovico as Agent Dee Dee Reyes. Glenn Lewis will conduct while Matthew Haney will direct the production which will also include set design by BinhAn Nguyen, costume design by Jason bray, and lighting design by Todd Nonn.

In addition to “The Last American Hammer,” Pittsburgh Opera is set to close out its 2019-20 season with productions of “Carmen” and “Norma.”
