Pittsburgh Opera to Present Documentary ‘COVID Fan Tutte’

By Francisco Salazar

Pittsburgh Opera is set to premiere a 25-minute documentary on the making of its socially-distant production of “Così fan tutte.”

The production, which premiered last fall, was one of the few productions in the United States that was performed for an audience. The new documentary is entitled “COVID fan tutte” and came from a term first coined and hashtagged by the organizatoin’s stage director Crystal Manich.

The new documentary will premiere on Friday, Feb. 5 at 7 p.m. EST on YouTube and will feature narration by WQED-FM’s Anna Singer and footage and interviews with Pittsburgh Opera General Director Christopher Hahn, Stage Director Crystal Manich, Maestro Antony Walker, Cast members Angel Romero, Maire Therese Carmack, and Yazid Gray, Costume Shop Manager Jason Bray, Managing Director Bill Powers, Director of Development Michael Braxton, Manager of Community Engagement and IDEA Initiatives Rebekah Diaz, and Director of Marketing & Communications Chris Cox.

The documentary will remain on the company’s YouTube page indefinitely.
