Pittsburgh Opera to Host ‘It’s About Time,’ Richard Parsakian’s Final Fashion Show
By David SalazarPittsburgh Opera will host its annual fashion show benefit on the evening of Monday, March 23 at the Bitz Opera Factory, 2425 Liberty Avenue in the city’s Strip District neighborhood.
This year’s event is curated by Richard Parsakian, owner of Shadyside’s Eons Fashion Antique, with hair and makeup styling by Studio Booth. It will be his final fashion show after 45 years of event work. Pittsburgh Opera’s award-winning Resident Artists will both perform and walk the runway during the evening, bridging the company’s operatic mission with the evening’s broader celebration of artistic community.
“We’re going out with a bang,” Parsakian, whose store Eons Fashion Antique, will celebrate its 40th anniversary this July, said, per an official press release. “This show will be the culmination of my dream to bring all art forms and friends who I have worked with over the years together in one interactive evening that gives voice to artists we need to uplift. Each piece in this show has personal meaning to me, and has been chosen for a specific reason. Expect surprises — it’s going to be an epic evening.”
Parsakian’s event credits include fashion productions for the Andy Warhol Museum and Metropol, and he served as curator of the annual Ecolution sustainability fashion gala. He was named 2024 Grand Marshal of Pittsburgh Pride and received the Three Rivers Business Alliance’s LGBTQIA+ Leader of the Year honor in 2023. His Pittsburgh Opera debut came in 2016 as costume designer for Ricky Ian Gordon’s “27.”
Cocktails and hors d’oeuvres begin at 6:30 p.m., with the runway presentation commencing at 7:30 p.m., followed by drinks and dancing with the models and artists.
