Pittsburgh Opera To Celebrate Holidays with ‘Hansel & Gretel’
By Francisco SalazarPittsburgh Opera will continue its 80th season with Humperdinck’s classic “Hansel & Gretel.“
The opera is set to star Pittsburgh favorite Marianne Cornetti as the witch, as well as Ashley Fabian as Gretel, Corrie Stallings as Hansel and Caitlyn Gotimer as the Dew Fairy/Sandman. Leah Heater will perform the Mother, while Craig Verm will sing the Father.
Anthony Walker will conduct the performances, which will be sung in English with Crystal Manich directing the production.
“Hansel & Gretel” is set to be performed on Nov. 3, 6, 9, and 11. The Student matinee performance will be held on Nov. 8 with 2,500 students from grades three through 12 and will feature Pittsburgh Opera’s Resident Artists in lead roles, accompanied by the Pittsburgh Opera Orchestra.
The Pittsburgh Opera is set to kick off its new season with Puccini’s perennial classic “Madama Butterfly.”
