Pittsburgh Opera Announces Broadcast Partnership with WQED
By Logan MartellPittsburgh Opera has announced a partnership with WQED-FM to bring the performing arts to audiences at home. The series, titled “Pittsburgh Opera@Home,” will consist of four half-hour episodes of curated selections from past performances of Pittsburgh Opera; they will air Saturday at 12:30 pm, from April 11 to May 2.
“Since our patrons are unable to come to us, we wanted to find ways to come to them. We are fortunate to have a strong partnership with WQED, as well as extensive archival recordings, to make ‘Pittsburgh Opera@Home’ possible,” Pittsburgh Opera General Director Christopher Hahn stated about the program in a press release.
As of March 5, Pittsburgh Opera has also launched “Intermezzo,” a video series which features daily videos of past company performances, as well as clips from their resident artists.
“Perhaps now more than ever we believe in the power of music and the human voice to heal, to uplift, and to unite,” says Hahn. “We eagerly await the day when we can perform live on-stage again. Until then, we hope these radio shows and daily videos can bring smiles to people’s days during this difficult time.”
