The Pittsburgh Festival Opera has announced its incoming Fall Online Program.

The lineup will feature PFO’s Young Artists in the short online scenes. For the project that was named “Opera Without Walls,” these online scenes will be incorporated into a variety of TV and movie genres. Short episodes will showcase opera-themed ads, as well as the guest cameo appearances by the Pittsburgh Mayor Bill Peduto, among others.

“Nobody’s done anything quite like this that we have seen or heard,” said Pittsburgh Festival Opera Artistic Director Marianne Cornetti in a press release. “And it was a true challenge to figure out how to make duets, trios… even sextets work with singers who could not be in the same room or stage with each other,” added Cornetti.

For the goals of the project, the singers recorded themselves with the high-resolution cameras in order to create fully developed film scenes. The program includes works by Donizetti, Verdi, Mozart, and Sondheim, among others.

The full list of the Pittsburgh Festival Opera’s Young Artists Program includes Colin Aikins, Maureen Brabec, Natalie Butchko, Autumn Capocci, Sadie Cheslak, Lindsey Chinn, Anissa Clay, George Cole, Jessica Crowell, Brent Doucette, Taylor Alexis DuPont, Megan Jones, Sky Lee, Lauren Lenz, Matthew Maisano, Dorian McCall, Myles Pinder, Emily Roberts, and Schyler Sheltrown.

The Pittsburgh Festival Opera is dedicated to presenting the variety of American works, new works, as well as the reinterpretations of older works.
