Piotr Lempa & Katarzyna Nowosad Lead Baltic Opera Fall 2020 Performances

The Baltic Opera in Gdansk has announced its fall season.

In keeping with safety regulations due to ongoing concerns over COVID-19, spectators will be required to wear facemasks at all times and maintain a 1,5 m social distance.

Here is the look at the upcoming slate.

Rossini’s operatic masterpiece “Il Barbiere di Siviglia” will open the season. The cast will include Robert Gierlach, Katarzyna Nowosad, and Piotr Nowacki. José Maria Florêncio will conduct the production by Paweł Szkotak.

Performance dates: August 27-30, 2020

Next in the line is Beethoven’s only opera “Fidelio.”

Performance dates: October 3, 4, 24 & 25, 2020

The rarely-performed Cagnoni and Bassi’s opera “Don Bucefalo” will feature Katarzyna Nowosad, Bartłomiej Misiuda, and Aleksander Kunach. The rest of the cast will be announced at the later date.

Massimiliano Caldi will conduct the production by Paweł Szkotak.

Performance dates: October 17 & 18, 2020

Massenet and Gallet’s opera “Thaïs” will spotlight Daniel Borowski, Katarzyna Nowosad, Piotr Nowacki, and Julia Iwaszkiewicz. José Maria Florêncio will conduct the production by Romuald Wicza-Pokojski.

Performance dates: November 6-8, 2020

Bizet, Cormon and Carré’s opera “Les pêcheurs de perles” will star bass Piotr Lempa. Remaining cast members will be announced at the later date. José Maria Florêncio will conduct the production by Tomasz Podsiadły.

Performance dates: November 28 & 29, 2020
