The Hungarian State Opera has announced its 2023-24 season featuring premieres, revivals, and concerts.

Premieres

Donizett’s “Il Campanello” will be the first new production of the season with Attila Toronykőy directing. The cast will be led by Ildikó Megyimórecz, Zsuzsanna Kapi univ.stud., Rita Rácz, László Szvétek, Ninh Duc Hoang Long, Tivadar Kiss, Lúcia Megyesi Schwartz, Mária Farkasréti, Máté Fülep, and Lajos Geiger.

Péter Eötvös conducts his work “Valuska” with a cast that includes Tünde Szalontay, Zsolt Haja, Adrienn Miksch, Tünde Szabóki, Mária Farkasréti, András Hábetler, Krisztián Cser, István Horváth, Balázs Papp univ. stud., István Kovács, András Kiss, János Szerekován, and Attila Erdős.

Selmeczi’s “Artaban” will be presented with a cast that includes Gabriella Létay Kiss, Kinga Kriszta, István Kovács, Aron Ottó Jóhannsson univ.stud., Lóránt Najbauer, and Lőrinc Kósa. Péter Dobszay conducts.

Gergely Kesselyák conducts Dvorak’s “Rusalka” in a new production by János Szikora. Andrea Brassói-Jőrös stars in the title role alongside Zoltán Nyári, Szilvia Rálik, Károly Szemerédy, and Erika Gál.

Balázs Kocsár conducts Mozart’s “Don Giovanni” with a cast that includes Gábor Bretz, András Kiss, Natália Tuznik univ.stud., Artúr Szeleczki univ.stud., Brigitta Kele, Krisztián Cser, Bence Pataki, and Boglárka Brindás. Christian Schmidt conducts.

Gábor Bretz sings the title role of Mussorgsky’s “Boris Godunov” alongside Laura Topolánszky, Andrea Brassói-Jőrös, István Kovácsházi, Zsolt Haja, and András Palerdi. Balázs Kocsár conducts the production by András Almási-Tóth.

Balázs Papp univ. stud. sings the title role of Auber’s “Fra Diavolo” with Lajos Geiger, Diána Ivett Kiss, Artúr Szeleczki univ.stud., László Szvétek, Gabriella Rea Fenyvesi univ. stud., András Hábetler, and János Szerekován.
