Piotr Beczala, Angela Meade & Sondra Radvanovsky Lead Amigos De La Opera De La Coruña’s 2019 Season

The Amigos de la Opera de la Coruña has announced its 2019 season with a series of recitals and opera performances.

Operas 

Carlos Saura directs a new production of Mozart’s “Don Giovanni” with  Miguel Ángel Gómez Martínez conducting the Sinfónica de Galicia. Juan Jesús Rodríguez sings the title role with Gilda Fiume (Donna Anna), Ginger Costa-Jackson (Donna Elvira), Simón Orfila (Leporello), Rocío Pérez (Zerlina), Francisco Corujo (Don Ottavio), and Gerardo Boullón (Masetto) in the cast.

Performance Dates: Sept. 13-15, 2019

Verdi’s “Don Carlo” gets a concert performance with Angela Meade, Carlos Álvarez, Ferruccio Furlanetto, Francesco Pio Galasso in the title role, Elena Zhidkova, and Luiz-Ottavio Faria. The performance will be conducted by  Kamal Khan.

Performance Date: Sept. 28, 2019 

Concerts

Celso Albelo is set to showcase a recital of Latin American, opera and zarzuela. He will be joined by pianist Juan Francisco Parra.

Performance Dates: Sept. 8, 2019

Michael Spyres will offer a program of Mozart, Verdi, Rossini, Bizet, and Verdi.

Performance Date: Sept. 21, 2019

Piotr Beczala makes his Coruña debut singing a recital with music of Dvorak and other renowned composers.

Performance Date: Oct. 23, 2019

Carlos Mena will showcase a concert in co-production with CNDM. The countenor will showcase  the premiere of four cantatas by José de Torres.

Performance Date: Oct. 25, 2019

Sondra Radvanovsky will close out the season with a program of Bel Canto and Verdi with pianist Anthony Manoli.

Performance Date: Nov. 13, 2019
