The Pinchgut Opera has announced its 2027 season celebrating its 25 years.

In a statement, Artistic Director Erin Helyard said “In 2027, Pinchgut turns 25, and I turn 50. So this is a personal season for me. It brings together composers, works, artists and dear friends who mean a great deal to me.”

The season opens with John Frederick Lampe’s “Pyramus and Thisbe,” an eccentric eighteenth-century parody inspired by the play-within-a-play from Shakespeare’s “A Midsummer Night’s Dream.”

Performance Dates: Feb. 6 – 7, 207 at City Recital Hall, Sydney

Francesco Cavalli’s “Egisto” continues with Legendary Australian director Neil Armfield helming the production. Michael Petruccelli, Morgan Balfour, Ashlyn Tymms, and Zachary Wilder star.

Performance Dates: May 24 – April 2 at Roslyn Packer Theatre, Sydney

Claudio Monteverdi’s “Madrigals of Love and War” will be performed by the Orchestra of the Antipodes, featuring internationally acclaimed Monteverdi specialist Zoë Brookshaw alongside Miriam Allan.

Performance Dates: July 23 – 24, 2027 at Melbourne Recital Centre & July 31 – August 1, 2027 at City Recital Hall, Sydney

The season concludes with George Frideric Händel’s “Partenope” with Dean Bryant directing. The cast includes Samantha Clarke, Hugh Cutting, Jacob Lawrence and Christopher Lowrey.
