Pinchgut Opera Announces 2019 Season

The Pinchgut Opera has announced its 2019 season, which will feature two operas, two concerts, and performances in two different cities.

The company is billed as Australia’s only Baroque Opera Company, specializing in staging early opera since 2002.

This season, the company is set to showcase Monteverdi’s “The Return of Ulysses,” which will be directed by Chas Rader-Shieber and will star tenor Fernando Guimaraes. Mezzo Catherine Carby will also be featured in the production.

Performance Dates:  June 13-19, 2019 

Vivaldi’s political work “Farnace” is the second opera of the season and it is set to star Christopher Lowrey and Jacqueline Dark. Other cast members include Taryn Fiebig, Helen Sherman, and Max Riebl.

Performance Dates:  Dec. 4-10, 2019 

In addition to the operas, the company will showcase two differing concerts, including Bach’s Easter Oratorio with such artists as Richard Butler, Alexandra Oomens, Anna Dowsley, David Greco, and Andrew O’Connor. The concert will also feature a performance of Telemann’s “Thunder Ode.”

Performance Dates: April 6, 2019 (Melbourne); April 7, 2019 (Sydney) 

Finally, the company is set to showcase a concert feature Valer Sabadus on August 25, 2019.
