La Tuque Complexe culturel Félix-Leclerc and Complexe Multimédia are set to present “La Voie de la Passion,” a three-part web showcase starting on Thursday, Dec. 24, 2020.

The celebration of opera, lyric singing, and classical music will be headlined by internationally renowned bass-baritone Philippe Sly as well as an instrumental ensemble. The group will perform music by Handel and Bach, among other works.

“The COVID-19 pandemic has caused us to lose some benchmarks. With the presentation of these chapters, I want to offer much more than just entertainment,” Sly, who is also artistic director of the project, noted in an official press release. “I hope this reminds us of those little rituals that allow us to hold on to something nourishing for the spirit. Christmas is usually a time to get together. We hope that this project will be a way for us to connect with our roots.”

“Chapter 1, La Prophétie” is slated for release on Dec. 24, 2020, with “Chapter 2, La Passion” arriving online a week later on New Year’s Eve. The final episode, “Chapter 3, Le Message” will be released on Jan. 7, 2021.

The project was filmed over three days.

“The [shoot] was carried out properly with all sanitary measures in mind,” added Marie Pierre Mailhot, the executive and artistic director of Complexe culturel Félix-Leclerc. “Hats off to the entire team of Complexe culturel Félix-Leclerc, who have been working outside their comfort zone for several months, with passion, resourcefulness and creativity.”
