Philippe Jaroussky Wins 2024 Traetta Prize

Countertenor Philippe Jaroussky ⁦ has been named the 16th Traetta Prize 2024 winner.

The famed singer is being honored “in recognition of his passionate and enduring commitment to giving voice to the rediscovery of the European roots of 18th-century music.”

The prize, which was established in 2009, is assigned by the Traetta Society and was conceived and promoted by the architect Gianfranco Spada. It is awarded each year during Traetta Week, a festival dedicated to composer Tomasso Traetta that takes place during the eight days between the day of his birth to that of his death.

Throughout his career, Jaroussky has explored a diverse repertoire including the works of Monteverdi, Sances, Rossi, Handel and Traetta. He has collaborated with major ensembles and performed with many of the great artists of his generation.

Previous winners include Benjamin David, Núria Rial, Diego Fasolis, Olga Peretyatko, María Bayo, Christophe Rousset, and René Jacobs.
