By Francisco Salazar

Philippe Jaroussky has canceled his upcoming North America tour due to visa issues.

The countertenor took to social media and said, “Dear Baroque music lovers from Boston, San Diego, Seattle, Vancouver and Quebec. It is with a broken heart that I have to announce the cancelation of my North American ‘Gelosia’ tour with my dear ensemble ‘Artaserse’ due to work visa issues. We will of course try to postpone it as possible! Thanks for your understanding and support!”

Jaroussky was to have performed in April and May selections from his latest album “Gelosia.” He next performs at La Seine Musicale in France.

The countertenor is one of the major singers in the international musical world as confirmed by the French Victoires de la Musique (“Revelation Artiste Lyrique” in 2004, “Artiste lyrique de l’année” in 2007 and 2010) and at the Echo Klassik Awards in Germany in 2008 in Munich (Singer of the Year), in 2009 in Dresden (with L’Arpeggiata) and again in 2016 in Berlin.
