Petr Nekoranec Steps In for Stephen Costello at Metropolitan Opera Central Park Concert

By Francisco Salazar

Petr Nekoranec will sing tonight’s Central Park SummerStage recital concert.

He will replace Stephen Costello, who is ill. The Metropolitan Opera announced the news on Twitter.

Nekoranec has become recognized as one of the most distinctive young singers in the Czech Republic. In September 2016, he attended the Lindemann Program for Young Artists at the Metropolitan Opera and became the first Czech to be accepted into this prestigious two-year program.

He recently became a member of the Bavarian State Opera in Munich and its Opera Studio, where he has performed the title roles in Rossini’s “Le comte Ory” and Britten’s “Albert Herring.”

Upcoming engagements include appearances at the Dvorak Prague Festival, the Prague National Opera, and the Bavarian State Opera.
