Pensacola Opera Announces 2021 Season

The Pensacola Opera has announced its 38th season featuring two works.

The season will open with Bizet’s “Carmen,” written by Henri Meilhac and Ludovic Halévy. The work, based on Prosper Mérimée’s novella features some of the most popular melodies in opera. The work will star Elise Quagliata in the title role, Adam Diegel as Don José, Luis Alejandro Orozco as Escamillo, and Bizhou Chang as Micaëla.

Performance Dates: Jan. 20, 22 & 24, 2021

Gilbert & Sullivan’s comedy “H.M.S. PINAFORE” follows. The story is about a woman who falls in love with a lowly sailor. The operetta is one of the most popular in the repertoire and one that audiences are set to enjoy. The cast will include Corey Trahan as Sir Joseph Porter, Corey McKern as Captain Corcoran, Flora Wall as Josephine, John Riesen as Ralph Rackstraw, and Emily Triebold as Buttercup.

Performance Dates: March 10, 12 & 14, 2021

The Pensacola Opera canceled its final production of the 2020 season due to the coronavirus. The production of “Il Trovatore” was scheduled to open on March 20 for two performances.
