Pedro Halffter’s “Penelope’s Dream” is set to world premiere on August 26, 2023, at the Church San Nicolas in Villafranca as part of the Festival “Música en Villafranca.”

”Penelope’s Dream” is set to star soprano Ashley Galvani Bell, who has appeared with such companies as the Teatro Maestranza, Palacio Euskalduna, Daytona Beach Opera, and Opera Modesto, among others. She will be joined by pianist Itziar Barredo Cavedo.

The work will be directed by Antón Armendariz Díaz.

This is the second opera by Halffter to premiere at the festival following the 2022 presentation of “Klara.” The Spanish-born composer and conductor whose works have appeared with such organizations as the Orquesta Sinfónica de Madrid Orquesta Filarmónica de Gran Canaria, Real Orquesta Sinfónica de Sevilla, Orquesta Nacional de Lille, New Japan Philharmonic, and the Orquesta Verdi de Milan, among others.
