PBS to Present Piotr Beczala, Quinn Kelsey & Rosa Feola in Met Opera’s ‘Rigoletto’

PBS’s Great Performances at the Met will continue on June 17 with a presentation of Verdi’s “Rigoletto.”

The opera, which was directed by Bartlett Sher, stars Quinn Kelsey, Piotr Beczala and Rosa Feola. Conductor Daniele Rustioni leads the cast and mezzo-soprano Isabel Leonard hosts the program.

Of an early performance in the run, OperaWire’s review noted that Feola “brought beautiful support to the quartet with lush high notes and connected phrases that stood out from the rest of the voices… In the final duet ‘Lassu in cielo,’ she sang with tenderness and delicacy never losing the gleaming tone.”

PBS is set to present a number of other works from the Met Opera stage including “Ariadne auf Naxos,” “Don Carlos,” “Turandot,” “Lucia di Lammermoor,” and “Hamlet.”
