The Metropolitan Opera’s new production of “Der Fliegende Holländer” will be streamed on PBS’ Great Performances at the Met on July 5, 2020.

The performance stars Evgeny Nikitin in the title role with Anja Kampe as Senta, Franz-Josef Selig as Daland, and Sergey Skorokhodov as Erik. Valery Gergiev conducts with Lisette Oropesa hosting.

The original HD broadcast of the performance was slated for March 14, 2020, but due to the spread of COVID-19, the company announced that it would be canceling all performances starting on March 12, 2020.

Despite that, the company had been able to present several other performances of the Wagner opera prior to HD, allowing the organization to edit together a video performance for audiences to see here.

Of the opening night showcase, OperaWire’s review noted that Anja Kampe was the true standout. “Kampe’s Met debut has been long awaited and she did not disappoint in the least,” the review stated.

The broadcast kicks off at 12 p.m. EDT and will last approximately two hours and 30 minutes.
