PBS’s Great Performances at the Met will continue on April 1, 2022 with a presentation of “Fire Shut Up in My Bones.”

The opera, which was written by Terence Blanchard and Kasi Lemmons, stars Will Liverman, Latonia Moore, Angel Blue, and Walter Russell III. Yannick Nézet-Séguin conducts the opera with Audra McDonald hosting the broadcast.

“I cannot emphasize how unforgettable an experience this was. There was always going to be a vibe in the air given the context of the performance and people’s craving for this kind of artistic experience for more than a year-and-a-half. But “Fire Shut Up in My Bones” transcended even that. The opera itself, finding healing from trauma through communication and love, was in so many ways a perfect encapsulation of our own collective experience and needs,” said OperaWire’s review of the opening night performance of “Fire Shut Up in My Bones.”

PBS has been broadcasting “Great Performances from the Met” for the last 16 seasons.
