Pavel Valuzhin Takes Over ‘La Bohème’ at Semperoper Dresden

Tenor Jonathan Tetelman will not be appearing in the role of Rodolfo in Puccini, Giacosa and Illica’s “La Bohème” for the presentation on March 2, according to the official statement on the company’s website.

Instead, audiences will hear tenor Pavel Valuzhin in the lead role.

Valuzhin will join the cast that includes Hrachuhí Bassénz, Elena Gorshunova, Christoph Pohl, Lawson Anderson, Tilmann Rönnebeck, Hans-Joachim Ketelsen, Jun Seok Bang, Bernd Zettisch, Matthias Beutlich, Andreas Heinze, and Michael Auenmüller.

Antonino Fogliani will conduct the production by Christine Mielitz.

Pavel Valuzhin has recently performed the role of Duca di Mantua in “Rigoletto” at the Deutsche Oper Berlin, Staatsoper Stuttgart, and Teatro Colón Buenos Aires, the role of  Vladimir Lensky in “Eugene Onegin” at the L’opéra de Toulon, and the role of Alfredo Germont in “La Traviata” at the Staatsoper Stuttgart and Theater Bonn, among others.

Jonathan Tetelman is slated to be back to the stage for the run of “La Bohème” at the Teatro Regio di Torino on March 11, 2020.
