Patricia Petibon, Oleg Volkov, Adriana Gonzalez & Arturo Chacón-Cruz Lead Opéra National du Rhin’s 2022-23 Season

France’s Opéra National du Rhin has announced its 2022-23 season.

Here is a look at the productions that will be performed this season.

“Histoire(s) d’opéra”  will feature music by Monteverdi, Händel, Rameau, Mozart, Rossini, Verdi, Wagner, Puccini, Poulenc, and Berberian. Floriane Derthe, Lauranne Oliva, Brenda Poupard, Liying Yang, Glen Cunningham, Andrei Maksimov, and Oleg Volkov star while Émilie Capliez and Myriam Marzouki produce.

Performance Dates: Sept. 11-Oct. 2, 2022

“Until the Lions” by Thierry Pécou will make its world premiere with Fiona Tong, Cody Quattlebaum, Noa Frenkel, Mirella Hagen, and Anaïs Yvoz starring. Marie Jacquot conducts the first production by Shobana Jeyasingh.

Performance Dates: Sept. 25-Oct. 11, 2022

Schreker’s “Le Chercheur de trésors” will star Thomas Blondelle, Helena Juntunen, Paul Schweinester, and Derek Welton. Marko Letonja conducts the production by Christof Loy. 

Performance Dates: Oct. 28-Nov. 29, 2022

Andreas Spering conducts a new production of Mozart’s “The Magic Flute” directed by Johanny Bert. Nicolaï Elsberg, Svetlana Moskalenko, Anna Siminska, Eric Ferring, Trystan Llŷr Griffiths, Lenneke Ruiten, Helène Carpentier, Huw Montague Rendall, and Philippe Sly star.

Performance Dates: Dec. 8, 2022-Jan 8, 2023

Brenda Poupard, Lauranne Oliva, and Floriane Derthe star in Gluck’s “Petite Balade aux enfers” with Valérie Lesort directing.

Performance Dates: Jan. 4-June 18, 2023

Poulenc’s “La Voix Humaine” will star Patricia Petibon and will be conduct by Ariane Matiakh. Katie Mitchell directs.

Performance Dates: Feb. 18-March 14, 2023

Rossini’s “Cenerentolina” will star Brenda Poupard, Floriane Derthe, and Andrei Maksimov.

Performance Dates: March 3-April 4, 2023

Lambert Wilson, Damian Arnold, Floriane Derthe, Liying Yang, Oleg Volkov, Brenda Poupard, Andrei Maksimov, and Glen Cunningham star in Bernstein’s “Candide” with Tim Fluch conducting. 

Performance Date: March 17-19, 2023

Giulia Semenzato, Kangmin Justin Kim, Katarina Bradić, Carlo Vistoli, and Nahuel Di Pierro star in Monteverdi’s “L’Incoronazione di Poppea.” Raphaël Pichon conducts the production by Evgeny Titov. 

Performance Dates: March 23-April 30, 2023

Rimsky Korsakov’s “The Tale of Tsar Saltan” will star Ante Jerkunica, Svetlana Aksenova, Bogdan Volkov, Stine Marie Fischer, Bernarda Bobro, Carole Wilson, Julia Muzychenko, Vasily Gorshkov, Ivan Thirion, and Alexander Vassiliev. Aziz Shokhakimov conducts the production by Dmitri Tcherniakov. 

Performance Dates: May 5-28, 2023

Domingo Hindoyan conducts “Turandot” with a cast that includes Elisabeth Teige, Adriana Gonzalez, Arturo Chacón-Cruz, and Mischa Schelomianski. Emmanuelle Bastet directs. 

Performance Dates: June 9-July 4, 2023

Concerts

Aziz Shokhakimov conducts Verdi’s Requiem with Krassimira Stoyanova, Jamie Barton, Benjamin Bernheim, and Ain Anger.

Performance Date: Sept. 9, 2022

Aziz Shokhakimov conducts Mahler’s Symphony No. 3 with Bernarda Fink.

Performance Date: Jan. 19, 2023

 

Joyce DiDonato makes her role debut in Bizet’s “Carmen” with Michael Spyres, Elsa Dreisig, and Alexandre Duhamel. John Nelson conducts.

Performance Dates: April 4 & 6, 2023
