PARMA Recordings has released Garth Baxter’s newest opera “Lily” on YouTube.

Composed alongside librettist Lisa VanAuken (Lisa Van Allen), the opera is based very loosely on the novel “The House of Mirth” by Edith Wharton and tells the story of the tragic descent of Lily Bart from high society in upstate New York in the early 20th Century.

The recording stars Katie Procell as Lily, Han Jeong Wook as Seldon, Jeffrey Gates as Gus, Allison Deady as Judy, and Marcelle McGuirk as the Milliner. Stephen Strosnider directs the production and Juliano Aniceto conducts.

The new recording was created and filmed during the pandemic.
